An antique openwork brooch, worked as a long scrolling plaque and set throughout with round diamonds that follow its foliate piercework in fine bead settings. At the center, an emerald-cut green gemstone sits in a milgrained frame, ringed by a radiating diamond surround. The piercing, the milgrain and the older-cut diamonds place the piece in the early twentieth century. It pins equally well to a lapel, a collar or the waist of an evening dress.
